NAR Adopts New Fair Housing Training Requirements

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) recently implemented new fair housing and anti-bias training requirements starting in 2025. Both new and existing REALTOR® members will be required to attend two hours of qualified fair housing or anti-bias training to obtain and maintain REALTOR® membership. Just like the required REALTOR® Code of Ethics training, the fair housing or anti-bias training will be required in three-year cycles. The first cycle starts January 1, 2025, and ends December 31, 2027. The training may be completed in a variety of ways:
- Members may complete requirements by attending live or online courses.
- Members who finish NAR’s Fairhaven simulation will also qualify.
Fairhaven is a free online simulation in which the participant explores fair housing issues while role-playing through scenarios. The simulation has been updated for 2025 to include information about historical context as well as practical insights about fair housing as the member guides a fictional party through a transaction.
Other NAR courses that qualify for the fair housing/anti-bias training credit include the At Home With Diversity certification course, and Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing. These courses for a fee may be used toward NAR certifications or endorsements like C2EX.
As a certified real estate continuing education (CE) provider, the WRA will include course learning objectives in its CE curriculum during the 2025-26 biennium.
